All about the tulle!

All about the tulle!

We have been selling our beautiful tulle skirts here at Elsie’s Attic for three years now so we thought it was high time that we organised our own photo shoot to show off these stunning beauties! These skirts are our own design and manufactured under our own label so we are immensely proud of them.

So, we are calling this our real women photo shoot and yes, we know all women are real women but we just wanted to convey the idea that we used beautiful Elsie’s Attic fans to show the skirts off to their best.

Once the decision had been made to go ahead with the shoot we put a shout out on our social media channels and we were utterly blown away and completely honoured with the amount of responses we received. We sat down as a team and set about recruiting gorgeous girls in sizes 10 to 18. None of the girls had modeled before which just added to the excitement.

We are very lucky to have gorgeous wedding industry friends, Astra at Timeless Couture and Kerry at Tineke Floral Designs based out of Haarlem Mill in Derbyshire. Both these gorgeous ladies are involved in our wedding this July so we knew we could rely on them . . . . after a few frantic phone calls and we had a venue – the mill and some floral styling, just one catch, the mill and offices, at the time, were partly a building site! So, Mr Attic (Steve) and I headed off up to the Peak District the day before to clean up and shove stuff around!

Here’s Mr Attic aka Steve helping us get the set up right – Love him!

After a lot of hard work and lugging stuff up three floors – we were ready for shooting on the Sunday. Now when it comes to photos the ladies to do the job were obviously the gorgeously fun Emily and Katy of Emily and Katy Photography . . . they are definitely the best in the business, in fact we are trusting them to shoot our own wedding this July! So, venue, models, shooters and skirts ready . . . we just need some talented ladies to help with the finishing touches – hair and make-up!

There was only ever going to be one choice for us for make up, the beautiful Sophie Bee Makeup Artist . . . and yes, she is doing the make up for our wedding too! We then found the gorgeous Rachael of Rachael Doig Makeup and Hair Styling to be our hairstylist for the day.

We had a super early start on the Sunday for the drive from our base in sunny, rural Notts to the Peak District – a nervous excitement was kicking in for everyone! As soon as we got there it was full on . . . all the girls relaxed in Astra’s boudoir in the mill and were pampered and glammed up by Sophie and Rachael. It takes a considerable amount of time to get five ladies photo shoot ready!

We had a lot of skirts to shoot as we had both our Spring/Summer collection and the new colour palette for the Autumn/Winter season to shoot so we knew we had a full on day ahead of us!

Rainbow of colours . . . all the skirts waiting for our models!

The aim for the day was not just to capture details images of the skirts on girls of all sizes but also to show the versatility of the skirts . . . they can be pretty, rocky, wedding, party, everything! We spent the morning shooting the pretty, wedding looks for the summer season and we captured some truly beautiful looks.

Lunch was just some sandwiches scoffed between outfit changes as we had so much to get through. In the afternoon we broke loose a little bit, there was a hair and makeup change and we worked on the Christmas party looks

Quick break in between takes!

A cheeky glass of Prosecco or two kept the proceedings sliding along nicely . . . while still being professional, obvs!

A change of look and we were in full Christmas party mode!

As well as our ever popular berry red and forest green, we have added some new colours for the forth coming Christmas season and here’s a sneaky peep!

Carmel in the new Jade green

Before finishing up we just had the bridal and rock looks to shoot – talk about two extremes . . . but before that, more titivation and tea time . . . and maybe a little prosecco or two as well!

More styling . . . and a sneaky peep of the very camera shy me, Amanda!
Tea break time – photo shoot style!

We used the gorgeous Hollie to show off our new bridal skirt – it can be made is six (shown here) or four layers and will be hitting our site very soon.

Bridal goes boho!

The last thing we wanted to do was to show the true versatility of the skirts – they can be rock chick as well as pretty! How amazing does our Hollie look rocking it up with one of our slogan t-shirts too!

It was a long hard but fun day for all involved and the finished shots are amazing, Emily and Katy have done a totally cracking job and kept us entertained as energy levels were flagging! I hope you all love the shots as much as we loved making them. Thank you to all involved you were all super star beautiful professionals and thank you to everyone who buys our tulle skirts it means so much!

Much love Amanda (owner and chief tea maker!)

. . . and that ladies and gentleman, is a wrap!
