After another amazing year (thank you to all of our fantastic customers), we are expanding our team and recruiting again!

We are a small, friendly team, looking for more outstanding individuals to join us!

We have vacancies for Customer Magic Makers – AKA Order Fulfilment!

37.5 hours per week. 8.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday. (Hours and days NON-NEGOTIABLE).

Salary – £17 375 PRO RATA – will increase after initial six months.

INITIAL SIX MONTH CONTRACT THAT COULD LEAD TO PERMANENT FOR THE RIGHT PERSON.

About You . . .

Do you have a passion for fashion? Oodles of drive & enthusiasm? Attention to detail? Do you love folders and post it notes? Can you wrap a mean parcel? Do you have a passion for high levels of customer satisfaction?  Are you a good all rounder, not afraid to get stuck in and love working as part of a team. Would you cope if you broke a nail shifting some boxes? Can you make a decent cup of coffee? Do you promise to indulge in cake on full fat Friday in the office? If you can honestly answer yes to all of these then we’d love to hear from you!

As a small team we need people who are committed to working hard and the ethos of Elsie’s Attic.

Download orders from our website for processing

Pick and pack orders for amazing customers and send them off with love

Unpack incoming deliveries and put away stock in the Attic

Process customer returns and represent stock for sale

Answer customer emails and phone calls

Participate in regular team meetings and one to one development meetings

Eat cake on Fridays

and much more!

Please be aware, this is a physical role and you will spend most of your day moving around the Attic.

Meet our New HQ . . . It’s a CHURCH!

Elsie’s Attic has a new HQ and it’s an old church! We have long wanted a space that is more than just a warehouse; somewhere with character and style where we can also hold events and invite our gorgeous customers in for 1:1 styling sessions!  So, you can imagine how excited we were to find this amazing old building, for sale and just up the road from us in Leicestershire!

This building is an old Wesleyan Chapel, which has for the last 50 years, been an old church hall, in a small village in the North West of Leicestershire, Whitwick.  The hall was no longer needed by the Church Council so has been unused for some time and was in need of some love and restoration.

Here she is! Both buildings you can see are the old church, the part that looks like a face is the oldest part!

We came back from  the Somerset coast to view it as soon as possible in July 2020 and as soon as we saw it we put in an offer which was accepted. We started dreaming of restoration projects and began to channel our inner Angel and Dick  . . .  (you watch Escape to the Chateau, right?!). Little did we know,  we had months ahead of us of to get planning permission to use it for a place of work! We had to convince the planners that this was no longer a community facility (it had been closed up and unused for years!) and that we would save and restore this building. Eventually the planners gave us permission to use the hall for work purposes and we literally nearly burst with excitement, what a fab Christmas present that was – yes, it too that long!!

It still took a few more weeks to finalise the sale as the pandemic has just thrown everything off!  But on Friday the 19th February we finally got the keys to our very own church!!

There are many nooks and crannies inside the buildings. There is one large hall where we will store our stock and the Customer Magic Makers will pick and pack all of the orders. Our Customer Happiness Team will also base themselves there too, to be on hand to answer all queries and questions.  There is also a room at the back of the main hall that Mr Attic and I will use as our base.  Along with a large kitchen we also have two big toilets blocks and a large foyer. It is this area we have designs on to turn it either into some sort of outlet shop or a space for styling sessions!

The smaller building (the one that looks like a face) is the oldest part and is over 200 years old.  There is an upstairs space on that side of the building and, once renovated, it will be a beautiful space for us to hold events such as meet ups for our Book Club, arm knitting workshops, fashion events and much more!!

No doubt we will post a gazillion updates over the next few weeks and months as we renovate and restore the property. The removal vans are booked for the 25th of March so wish us luck!!

About The Role . . .

We are not your typical company and this new role will offer the opportunity to carve a role for yourself in a small, friendly, hard working team.  We are looking for an individual that is comfortable modelling our amazing clothes, showing them off to their best, inspiring other women to have the confidence to look good and feel great and interacting with our amazing customers across our social media channels.

As a busy team member you would be responsible for the following: –

Modelling the clothing/accessories for images for our site/social media

Creating content for social media and the website, such as . . .

  • Videos on how to wear items
  • Videos showing close up details
  • Flat lays

Participating in social media content planning

Taking images of products and uploading them to the site

Participating in and helping with the planning of Facebook and Instagram lives

Participating in regular team meetings and one to one development meetings

and much more!

Essential skills you will have  . . . 

Being comfortable in front of a camera and knowing how to strike a pose

Being able to take high quality photos for a range of media

The ability to use Facebook, Instagram (and other social media channels) for business

Fully computer literate including email, Microsoft Office and the ability to use WordPress would be a significant advantage

The ability to be flexible and work as part of a team

Bags of sass and confidence!

What we can give you . . .

Starting salary £19 500 (pro rata) with six monthly reviews and the opportunity to progress if you can really work hard and knock our socks off!

The position is Monday to Friday 4 hours a day.

Pop Up Events are Coming to the Attic!

So Elsie’s Attic is six years old this year and the best thing has been getting to know lots of our lovely followers online but we really really love holding events so we can get to meet you amazing bunch in person!

So, not only are we bringing back our warehouse sales we are also going to have pop up events! The first one will be an arm knitting workshop! Super excited about this one as we are a bunch of knitters in the Attic.  The workshop will give you the chance to knot a jumbo blanket like below in just two hours!  As always there will be plenty of coffee and cake!

We are also planning meet ups for our amazing book club, are you a member yet? It’s a lovely cosy space to chat about all things literary. Join in the conversation here.

Come and work with us . . . exciting new role!

Stock Control Manager – Based at our Cotgrave HQ, Nottinghamshire

Stock control, that is, having the right items on the site at the right time, is integral to our brand and our business success.  Our customers know what they want, and they want it now; this role will ensure the right products are present on the site for them.

We are extending our HQ Team, based in Cotgrave with this full-time position.

The role will involve managing orders coming in to our warehouse, entering stock onto the back end of our site, reordering when necessary and ensuring stock levels are at all times correct.

This is an exciting time for Elsie’s Attic as we expand our business and we’d love to extend a warm welcome to the right person for this position.

Elsie’s Attic Turns three . . . what a ride!

OK, so we are a little late with this blog post (we actually turned three at the beginning of July – remember our bumper weekend of giveaways!!) but that’s life all over in the Attic – so busy and so manic but we love it!

We thought you might be interested in our tale of the last three years, of how we started and got to where we are now . . .  we’d give you a little bit of a sneak peep behind the scenes!

So, who is this Elsie  . . .  well Elsie is me, Amanda, and my amazing husband too, Steve!  We own and run Elsie’s Attic together and we have done each other any serious harm . . . .  yet!

This is us . . . and that’s Rick Astley in the background!

Just over three years ago I was feeling a bit dissatisfied in my career, you know the story, Our eldest son was only four and just starting school and I missed him desperately and so wanted to be there to do the school runs.  I was a trained Forensic Psychologist, had owned my own dog training business and then gone on to work in PR but none of it was floating my boat . . .  after a late night chat over a bottle or two, we decided to use my passion for fashion and start Elsie’s Attic . . . or Tallulah Rose as we were initially called!

We started out just selling bags, scarves and jewellery . . .  I look back on our early Facebook days and smile and cringe in equal measure!  Right from the start we wanted to stock things that are just a little bit different but pretty, always pretty – we just love girly fashion!

So that was it – off we went, I ensconced myself at our kitchen table and really, seriously, I barely moved for the first year!  I spent days and days searching out fantastic lines and we soon expanded into clothes.  We initially used to sell on Facebook and then after a few months we decided to bite the bullet and commissioned a website.  Quite probably one of the most stressful things I have ever done – particularly the time I worked 36 hours straight with no break or sleep to get all the products loaded up . . .  but it was done and ready to launch so we did the obvious thing . . .  buggered off to a festival for the weekend!  Little did we know then how truly epic things would become!

The rest of the time has really been a blur . . .  we both gave up our full time jobs and worked full time on the Attic. We expanded from our kitchen table to the garage and then bought a new house from which we were going to run the business from the converted garage . . .  after only a few days and 12 boxes outside in the pouring rain, we knew it was time for more space and staff!

. . . and so the orders just kept on coming so, as scary as it was, we moved into our own warehouse and took on our first members of staff!  Two years later, we have kissed more than a few frogs but we now have the most amazing team who help to ensure your beautiful items reach you as quickly and as safely as possible . . .  say hi to the very camera shy Alison, Lindsay and Shelley!

We have also seen our celebrity collaborations grow . . .  we started off with Fifi Geldof, have made friends with the super kind and generous Jodie Marsh and have been over the moon to work with others including Karen Clifton, Lorraine Kelly, Stacey Solomon and the very sweet and funny Dolly-Rose Campbell (aka Gemma in Corrie!).

This year has been particularly fabulous . . . our own label is going from strength to strength.  Our tulle skirts are super popular and we even had our very first photo shoot with Elsie’s Attic fans as models – such a cracking day and you can read all about it here. We have big plans afoot to launch more of our own label products too . . .  exciting times!

Amongst all this in the last 12 months we have also found time to have a baby and get married!

Our little Jesse Johnson who arrived June 2016 amongst full on Attic life – I had a full three days maternity leave!

We now run this fun, crazy enterprise with two boys in tow . .  . not forgetting the Attic dogs, Otto and Bertie!

We are now busy bees getting ready for the wonderful Christmas season, personally my favourite!  We want to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all of your support, orders and messages. Our favourite times are when you all come and see us at our warehouse sales!

Our Super Duper Warehouse Sale is Back!

We are so excited to tell you that our super duper warehouse sale is back!

Saturday 3rd June 2017, 9am until 1pm . . .  or longer if you are still shopping!

We have lots of end of line dresses waiting for their forever homes as well as one off samples.

We also have lots and lots of samples of our beautiful tulle skirts just waiting for you all!

All dresses are £25 and under along with more bargain rails!

It is always such a great event and we just love being able to meet our beautiful customers face to face.

So excited to hopefully meet more of you!

Just a little bit of boring stuff . . .

. . . as we are usually an online business we don’t have a card machine so payment is cash only.

The sale is in our working warehouse so as such we don’t have changing rooms.  Lots of ladies (that are clearly a pro at this) usually come in leggings and a vest so they can pop a dress on over their clothes – great thinking!

It’s always a lovely day, really warm and friendly and we are always so touched at how far some of you travel to come and see us  . . . i think the record so far is Glasgow!
